One happy writing chick

I am someone who bounds out of bed in the early morning. With a steaming cup of black coffee in hand and the day’s weather, I head to either the back deck overlooking the garden or a comfy chair inside that also has a pretty view. Tucked comfortably under my arm is my laptop and a brain filled with writing ideas eager to be let out. I have a busy and activated brain. So many ideas, so little time.

The life I now reside in supports this inside pulse of mine to start the day this way, though it wasn’t always like this. In a younger version of myself, I was married and a busy mom who owned two businesses in two different locations. The busyness of that life commanded almost every minute of my attention and usurped my writing time. Though I loved writing, it was difficult to keep some sort of regular writing routine.

But I did write when I could. I carved away time to take a few writing classes too, but most of my writing landed where most writing, pre-internet, pre-social media, pre-blogging landed — in a folder on the computer or printed and tucked away in a folder in my closet. I feared the only eyes to see my life’s work would be my son who at some point in his life would be faced with the decision of what to do with all of this writing.

My son is a grown up now and has left the nest to start his own nest. I am no longer married, have consolidated my two…
