A PERFECTLY GOOD BUSINESS

A few nights ago, I watched two restaurant owners on a local Boston station talk show about the deep dilemma they have found themselves in because of this global pandemic. They were not sure if their perfectly good businesses that just last year were thriving, would survive.

I emphasize the word global just as a reminder to anyone who may think this Covid crisis is some national conspiracy to keep our present leader from becoming reelected. This is a global, not national crisis.

Though it is becoming more insular by the minute.

The same night, I watched and listened to Boris Johnson talking about the next wave of the virus starting in England. My cousin lives in London so I can verify that, yes, this is really happening. My other friend’s family is from Madrid and they are equally concerned. I am not living in an alternate universe. I have to keep saying this to myself as I watch our country unravel.

I know there are plenty of people who say, Everyone is going to get this. We all have to live with it.

And this may be true.

What I do believe we can all agree on is the fatigue and emotional toll this is taking on our population. There is certainly an aspect in my mind that agrees, especially as I own one of the many high touch businesses highly affected by this virus.

Despite what rhetoric is happening on both sides of the aisle, despite the political sides each person leans towards, what is happening in Washington…
